Local Frederick group
Discovers At the request of Mr. Lance Lewis, President elect of the Civitan Club of Frederick, Maryland, I traveled to the Dan Dee Restaurant on Route 40 west to speak to the assembled group who was celebrating "Clergy Night". I learned that the word CIVITAN is coined from the word CIVITAS, which means citizenship. This group is dedicated to aiding the handicapped in the area. This fine group of men and women belonging to the organization, and the members of the clergy, who were their invited guests, were very receptive to my talk on a fellow resident of Frederick County, albeit some years back, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. For many present, this was their first introduction to Elizabeth Ann Seton and the work of the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. As we left the meeting, many expressed their desire to visit the shrine and to experience this place made holy by the saint's presence from 1809 to 1821. Hopefully, we will welcome some of them this spring. Sister Joan Angermaier, D.C. |
