  • St. Elizabeth Ann's Birthday Celebration & Family Fun Day

    All are invited! Starts with 1:30 Mass in the Basilica. "Elizabeths" and "Elizabeth Anns" of all ages are invited to join in the procession into church — please register in the shrine at 12:45. "Family Fun Day" is held afterward in the Courtyard with birthday cake, snow cones, balloons, clown, Mother Seton and her students, face painting, and more.
  • Annual Pilgrimage for Sea Services

    The public, especially men and women in uniform and their families, is welcome to this 3 pm Mass in the Basilica. The Seton Shrine and the Daughters of Charity welcome you to the Annual Pilgrimage for the Sea Services — Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine. Proclaimed as "Patroness of the Sea Services" for Catholic men and women in uniform, Mother Seton was linked to the Navy through her two sons. Sponsored by the generosity of a committee of mainly retired Naval officers and their spouses, and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, the Mass is highlighted by the Presentation of the Colors and the music of the Naval Academy Catholic Midshipmen Choir from Annapolis.
  • "Museums by Candlelight"

    Frederick County celebrates the holiday season with this annual festive tour of museums and historic sites. Start your tour early with us (beginning at 10:00 am) in northern Frederick County, and make your way down to Frederick City. Join us for warm cider and cookies; admission, as always, is free.   • Feast Day of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and Opening of the Bicentennial Year 2009

    The Bicentennial Year, in observance of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton's 200-year anniversary, begins with a full day of events. The Feast Day Mass begins at 2:30 pm. The unveiling of the "One of a Kind" piece follows Mass at 3:30 pm. A reception will follow in the Gift Shop Lobby. A Lighting Ceremony in the Courtyard will begin at 4:15 pm. The public is invited.

  • Museums at the Mall

    Meet history at the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick, from 10:00 am to 4 pm. There will be a sampling from 14 historic sites and museums and a craft table for children.
  • Stations of the Cross in the Basilica

    Stations of the Cross will be held in the Basilica at 12:00 noon.
  • "Bell & History Days"
    April 2009
    The opening of Frederick County’s museum season is celebrated with countywide events. On Saturday, bells will ring countywide at 10 am for three minutes to signal the opening. Informational fliers are available at participating sites. Participants are eligible for prizes by completing the Passport to History.
